Our Experience
We have raised many Pipevine Swallowtail caterpillars on our Woolly Pipevine over the years. The vines are covered in a soft, woolly fuzz hence the common name.
Our vine has been a slow grower, probably because it has nourished multiple broods of caterpillars per year.
The leaves are thick and when they get a bit dry in the late summer and fall the sound of the caterpillars eating the leaves can be heard when standing next to the plant.
