We have two delivery zones based on ZIP codes.
Zone A covers ZIP codes up to 30 miles from our location in Hillsborough.
Zone B covers ZIP codes up to 50 miles from our location in Hillsborough.
All ZIP codes within North Carolina are available for Pick-up and Pay In-Person Pick-up at our location in Hillsborough.
We offer home delivery up to 50 miles from our location in Hillsborough. We accept all cards or PayPal for home delivery. No cash or checks accepted.
We offer two methods of Pick-up at Backyard Butterflies.
We accept all cards and PayPal for Pre-Paid Pick-ups. No cash or checks accepted.
We accept all cards, cash, or checks for Pay In-Person Pick-ups.
You can purchase as a Guest. We encourage you to create an account because it will give you access to your My Account page where you can review orders, manage email subscriptions, and more.
We are classified as a registered nursery by the state of NC. By definition our license is limited to the sale of plants within NC.
For a variety of reasons we don’t. If you live beyond our 50 mile delivery area we offer pick-up at our location weekly on Sundays from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. We also offer delivery within 50 miles of Hillsborough.
We are a very small home-based business and prefer you shop through our online store.
You are welcome to shop during our weekly Pick-Up Hours on Sundays 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM during April and May. You can also shop by appointment.
We offer no-contact pick-up or delivery. We are fully vaccinated and wear masks.
No, but we offer Caterpillar Raising Workshops throughout the butterfly season.
We are in the process of applying to become a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We submitted our application in February 2022 and anticipate a response before June.
Once we are designated a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, your donation given to us after February may become eligible for tax deduction. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Our organization is not solely about providing assistance to help people create backyard butterfly habitats. We also provide education and community outreach.
We are open to coincide with the spring planting season when the majority of people prefer to buy plants.
