Our Experience

If you want to see a lot of Tiger Swallowtails in your yard plant Sweet Joe Pye Weed! We have multiple species of Joe Pye weed in our habitat and they are always covered in butterflies. In a good butterfly year we’ve counted 30+ on a single plant.

When we participate in annual NABA counts we always seek out known wild patches of Joe Pye weed as it’s a sure bet that we’ll count dozens to a hundred Swallowtails.

We’re offering this species as it grows well in shaded areas.
