About the Organization
Blackwood Farm Park is a public park in Orange County, NC. The Park sits on 152 acres, and the County hopes to continue to preserve the farmstead as an example of turn of the century farms in North Carolina’s piedmont region. We have also emphasized the reintroduction and cultivation of native grass and pollinator plant species in order to increase the overall biodiversity of the site and support bees, other pollinators, and bird species. We’ve partnered with local beekeepers associations and bird alliances in order to ensure that our activities and efforts are appropriate and beneficial for the species we want to support, as well as local volunteer groups to help remove non-native invasives in order to help our native species thrive.
