About the Organization
As part of our science curriculum, we teach students about how humans can impact the environment in both positive and negative ways. Most of the time, the negative side wins out and students feel like there isn’t much that they could do to help the environment in their everyday lives. Two years ago for Earth Day, we had students plant native seeds. We grew them in recycled newspaper pots and then students could take them home to plant. This was a huge success and something that the students could easily do to help our local environment. Your program is a perfect opportunity to extend that success buy incorporated native plants into our school’s landscaping. We hope to use this to show students how we can support threatened native species and make a difference in our school community.
