About the Organization

Christmount is located in Black Mountain, NC and is home to a retreat center that hosts camps for children with autism and adults with developmental disabilities (Camp Lakey Gap and Sunshine Retreats), Girls on the Run camps, group retreats and events and is home to over 90 residents. Christmount is known as a welcoming place for “all to discover community, acceptance and purpose”, opportunities for service learning and has hiking trials and event spaces to experience the wonder of western North Carolina. We recently had significant damage from Hurricane Helene. The community garden close to our home was washed away due to flood waters not previously seen for this area. We would like to use the pollinator plants for the guests, residents, and campers to learn more about pollinators and for the community to enjoy as we reestablish our native gardens. We often discover the wonder of nature here and would like to continue this experience moving forward after Helene.
