About the Organization
Transplanting Traditions Community Farm (TTCF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting refugee families from Burma/Myanmar by providing opportunities for economic self-sufficiency, cultural preservation, and community building through sustainable farming. TTCF not only serves as a space for farmers to grow and sell produce but also creates educational and cultural programs for families to stay connected to their roots while building a new future in North Carolina.
This summer, the donated plants will play an essential role in our Children’s Summer Camp, a program designed to engage youth in hands-on learning about nature, agriculture, and their cultural heritage. We plan to use the donated plants to teach children about North Carolina’s native plants, emphasizing their importance in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. Campers will explore the benefits of these plants, such as their ability to attract pollinators like bees and butterflies, which are vital for the health and productivity of the farm.
In addition to fostering an appreciation for native plants, this project will provide children with an opportunity to understand how these plants contribute to the overall sustainability of the farm. By integrating this knowledge into our camp activities, we hope to inspire the next generation to value and protect the natural world while strengthening their connection to their community and cultural heritage.
