About the Organization

I am a member of the Waterstone Residential HOA in Hillsborough, NC. My own yard includes several native species and I’d like to expand our collection of native plants within the neighborhood. We have several small flower beds and a large swath of greenspace available. Our local neighborhood community park has a pollinator garden and I’d love to continue educating the neighborhood on the importance of native and pollinator species. Unfortunately, our community is one where yards were pre-planned with non-native evergreens. There are few plants aside from those members have planted on their own to host local insects. By bringing ongoing awareness to the importance of natives and pollinators, my hope is that members will re-consider what plants and flowers they plant in their yards and opt for those friendlier to our native bird and insect populations.
