Our Experience

Paw paws are relatively slow growing trees spending the first couple of years establishing a tap root. Our little patch of trees has slowly grown since being first planted in the shadiest part of our habitat.

The flowers bloom before the tree leafs out. The flowers are pollinated by flies and beetles.

We’ve yet to see any egg laying activity as we suspect we’re too far away from the Eno River or a water source to attract the attention of a female Zebra Swallowtail, though we’ve heard from others that they have been visited and are not near a water source. All it takes is that one time and we’ll be happy.
