Figwort, Late

Our Experience

We are adding this plant to our sunny and shady areas of our habitat for 2022.

Figworts are highly recommended by the Xerxes Society who describes them as “amongst the most prolific nectar producers in the plant world”. They are described as not being eaten by herbivores because they contain unpleasant tasting acrid compounds. Dare we consider this plant not merely deer resistant but deer proof?

While this plant may not be showy, it does have very interesting looking flowers. We can hardly wait to see what kind of interesting pollinators are drawn to the flowers.
