DESCRIPTION:Join John for this week’s Wednesday Walk held at the NC Botanical Gardens. All ages welcome\, no experience necessary as John will teach you how to identify butterflies as you walk through the gardens. We strongly suggest you bring with you water or other hydrating beverages. This walk is subject to cancellation due to weather. Please RSVP so that you may be contacted for last minute updates or changes. \nThis event is organized by Backyard Butterflies and not the NC Botanical Garden. Please do not contact them regarding this event. All inquiries should be directed to Backyard Butterflies. \nRegistration for our Wednesday Walks is always free. DESCRIPTION:   \nLeft to Right: Silver Spotted Skipper caterpillar\, dark form female Tiger Swallowtail on hoary mountain mint\, puddling butterflies\, Harvester \nMeet up for this count is in the park at the bathroom parking lot. \nWe recommend wearing hiking shoes or boots as we will being walking through areas without trails. Long pants are recommended as well as 40+% DEET bug repellent. Sunscreen and hats are also advised. \nPlease prepare for heat indexes of over 100°F on this walk by bringing water or electrolyte containing beverages. A packed lunch is also recommended. Access to flush toilets will be limited. There are public restrooms in the park and there is a public water fountain. The nearest town with restaurants is about 3 miles away\, and the nearest Walmart is about 5 miles away. Often this count experiences a brief thunderstorm. It is advised to bring a change of clothes and or socks.

DESCRIPTION:Left to Right: Common Sootywing\, Peck’s Skipper\, White M Hairstreak\, Eufala Skipper\, Common Buckeye Caterpillar \nThis count has sighted some butterflies that are uncommon to rare\, as well as some that are not seen in the Durham and Orange County area. \nMeet up is in the parking lot near the restrooms. \nThis count will take place in areas off of trails through tall grasses. We recommend wearing hiking shoes or boots as we will being walking through areas without trails. Long pants are recommended as well as 40+% DEET bug repellent. Sunscreen and hats are also advised. \nPlease prepare for heat indexes of over 100°F on this walk by bringing water or electrolyte containing beverages. A packed lunch is also recommended.
